For Dennis' research and impressionistic pieces, he has studied the plants,
husks and crushed stones used in the paints of the Native American Tribes of the Great Lakes
region. He has been making his own paints after years of testing and comparing to traditional
commercial paints and growing some of the plants used in the process.
Dennis also uses traditional watercolor, as well as Gouache paints, which with it's opaqueness
nature, gives an added dimension to his paintings.
