Please join us in celebrating the season for the annual Holiday Open House! There will be Originals, Prints, and Proofs including some of the newest Original Trail Marker Tree pieces that were featured in the book, “Native American Trail Marker Trees: Marking Paths Through the Wilderness.” There will also be an informational Trail Marker Tree exhibit on display. As a special treat, author Dennis Downes will be signing copies of his book! Come for the art, books, exhibit, or even just the festive appetizers and cocktails! Hope to see you there!

The Art Show and Trail Marker Tree exhibit will be on display and open to the public through January 15th 9a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, books are also available for sale!

The Antioch Fine Arts Foundation (AFAF) in partnership with the Lakes Region Historical Society are pleased to announce that local artist and author Dennis Downes will be signing books from 12:00-4:00 p.m. on December 3, 2011 at the Historical Society's Old School House Museum on Main Street (Route 83) in Antioch. Regular Hard Cover books and the Special Limited Edition books will be available for sale during the event. To highlight the breadth and depth of Dennis' work, his artwork will also be on display at the Antioch Fine Arts Gallery beginning December 1- December 31. Stop into the AFAF gallery after you see Dennis at the Old School House on December 3rd, there will be hot cider and light snacks at the Gallery. This event is open to the public.

Mr. Downes and his wife were guests of Hilda Williams, ceremonial dancer, for this event held in the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier.

The author, Dennis Downes, and Janet Davies, well-known Chicago television host and executive producer of ABC7 News's 190 North, who wrote the foreword will both be in attendance. Both Hard Cover and Special Limited Edition Books will be available for purchase, Dennis and Janet will both be signing books. A large photographic and informational Trail Marker Tree exhibit will on display for the event.

Artist members of Antioch Fine Arts Foundation will join together at the newly renovated Comfort Inn on Rt. 173 in Antioch to host a fun-filled evening of fine art, wine tasting, and valuable raffle prizes donated by many area businesses.

Dennis will have two or three of his newest prints from the Wilderness Coast series in the silent auction and will be showing video from his latest event in Idaho along with the framed Proclamation from the Governor of Idaho regarding his donation to the Basque Cultural Museum.

A formal ceremony including state, local, and religious dignitaries will be held as the bronze high relief sculpture "Saint Valentin" by Dennis Downes, is formally donated to the Basque Museum & Cultural Center by the Berriochoa Family. The bronze will be officially blessed and a special procession to St. John's Cathedral will follow. "Saint Valentin" will be permanently displayed at the Museum. Downes Studio Art Shows

Thursday, June 9th "Cap" Streeter & Streeterville History Night: hosted by Streeterville Properties

On Thursday, June 9th at 6:30 pm at the site of the Captain George W. Streeter statue (corner of Grand Ave. and McClurg Ct.) there will be a re-dedication of this important work and gift to the Streeterville community. This sculpture was commissioned by Golub and Company and sculpted by Dennis Downes. Rich King from WGN will be speaking at the event and so will Richard Bales, author.

Immediately following, participants will walk 1/2 block east to Streeterville Properties for a reception and exciting presentation on the life of "Cap" Streeter and the changing face of the Streeterville neighborhood through the years. The artist and sculptor Dennis Downes will be present for the entire event. Don't miss this opportunity to hear Richard Bales, a Cap Streeter buff and author, tell some of the great stories that created and defined the community. Find out what makes Streeterville so unique among Chicago’s neighborhoods and become an expert in its history.

June 6, 2011 Opening Dedication Ceremony of the Streeterville Station Post Office

Dennis participated in the first event to kick of 6.06.11 Day in the Streeterville Community, Chicago. This event was the official opening of the new US Post Office named in honor of Captain Streeter, Streeterville Station. The Streeterville Station acknowledged Dennis’ contribution to the community with his sculpture of Captain Streeter; the new cancellation stamp for the Post Office was made in recognition of Captain Streeter and the Streeterville Community, artist Pia Schroth created the new cancellation stamp.

“A New Twist in Time” As part of the Arbor Day and Earth Week Celebration in Green Bay, Dennis was asked to present his Trail Marker Tree exhibit along with some artistic pieces, give educational lectures, and participate in the planting of several trees to commemorate the historical Trail Marker Trees. “A New Twist in Time” included a Trail Marker Tree float in Green Bay’s Green Parade and won a special award for the float. This event partnered with the Mayor’s Beautification Committee, Brown County Historical Society, Historic Allouez Society, Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Parkway, East High School, and the Greater Green Bay EarthWeek Coalition.

This will be the 11th annual Solo Show at the Grove Redfield House; this unique and beautiful setting makes for one of the Artist’s favorite showcases for his work.

This four day event will showcase many new originals, small and large prints as well as bronze sculptures. Each year part of the proceeds are donated back towards the preservation of the Grove.
